An-Nawawi Islamic Boarding School – In an effort to broaden the Islamic horizons of its students and the institution, An-Nawawi Islamic Boarding School conducted a study tour to Al Hikmah Islamic Boarding School in Boyolali, Central Java.

"Team 11" of An-Nawawi IBS, commissioned by the Foundation to carry out this religious and educational study tour, visited Al Hikmah Boyolali on Friday, March 27, 2026.

The program was designed to provide a deeper understanding of the dormitory-based education system, specifically focusing on the cultivation of character values and student independence.

Upon arrival at Campus 2 of Al Hikmah Boyolali at 09:30 AM, the delegation received a warm welcome from the pesantren administrators and foundation members during a special reception.

During the visit, Team 11 was granted the opportunity to observe the core components of Al Hikmah directly and engage in in-depth discussions regarding student character formation, mosque-centered engagement, dormitory management, and the traditional Kitab Kuning (classical Islamic texts) teaching methods that define the institution’s identity, as noted by Dr. Abudzar Al Qifari, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.

The Chairman of the An-Nawawi Foundation stated that the choice of this destination was intentional, aiming to allow Team 11 to learn about discipline and religious moderation. "We want the team to witness firsthand how inclusive and tolerant religious education is implemented in daily life," he remarked.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in several key activities, including:
  • Daily Routine Observation: Following the students' schedule, ranging from congregational worship to language-intensive activities.
  • Interactive Dialogue: A Q&A session with the pesantren administrators regarding the role of the institution in community empowerment and dakwah (outreach).
  • Facility Tour: Visiting the entrepreneurship unit, which fosters student independence through practical vocational training.

The Principal of the SMP IT (Integrated Junior High School) expressed her admiration for the atmosphere within the pesantren. "I initially thought the environment would be very rigid; however, it is actually quite dynamic, and the students are incredibly friendly," she noted.

The event, which lasted until the late afternoon, concluded with a social gathering and the presentation of tokens of appreciation from the school to the leadership of the pesantren. Through this visit, it is hoped that Team 11 will return with new inspiration regarding the importance of moral integrity and a high spirit of learning.
