An-Nawawi Islamic Boarding School – In an effort to produce students with a global outlook, An-Nawawi Islamic Boarding School officially organized an English Camp program. This educational program was the result of a strategic collaboration with the English Education Student Association (HMJ PBI), Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Alauddin Makassar.
The activity was formally opened in a solemn atmosphere and was attended by the leadership and senior administrators of the Islamic boarding school.
In his opening remarks, Ustadz Hasan Basri, Lc., emphasized the importance of mastering international languages for students in the modern era. According to him, language is a key instrument for spreading Islamic da’wah on a broader global scale.
“English is a tool. By mastering it, An-Nawawi students will not only excel in religious knowledge but will also be able to adapt and compete in the international arena,” he stated.

The arrival of the teaching team from HMJ PBI, delegated by Dr. Sitti Nurpahmi, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the English Education Study Program at UIN Alauddin Makassar, was warmly welcomed by the Founder of An-Nawawi Islamic Boarding School, H. Sumarno. He officially received the student delegation and expressed his highest appreciation for their willingness to share knowledge and experience with the students of the boarding school.
The English Camp activities were directly guided by HMJ PBI members who served as mentors and instructors. They assisted the students using interactive and enjoyable teaching methods. The mentors involved in this program were:

- St. Fadilah Jafar
- Andi Nurazizah Mappelawa
- Fariskayuni
- Raodah Tul Jannah
- Nurmadina
Under the guidance of these mentors, students actively participated in various activities such as English Games, Public Speaking, and Daily Conversation, aimed at increasing their confidence in speaking a foreign language.
The closing ceremony of the English Camp, which was held in conjunction with the commencement of the students’ holiday, took place successfully on December 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM WITA.
It is hoped that after returning to the boarding school, the students will maintain their enthusiasm for practicing English in their daily environment, so that the vision of establishing an English Area within the pesantren can soon be realized.
